In a major update, the match between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) is expected to be moved from Dharamsala to Ahmedabad. According to reports from Sportsweb, the game will now take place on May 11 at Ahmedabad’s stadium.
Initially, it was announced that the match would be held at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.
MI vs PBKS Match Likely to Shift to Ahmedabad
This change comes after India carried out a military operation called "Operation Sindoor" targeting terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK). As a result, flight operations at several airports in northwest India have been put on hold for security reasons.
This has affected the travel plans for both MI and PBKS, as they were supposed to play Match 61 of IPL 2025 on May 11. Due to the closure of the Dharamsala airport and increased security measures following rising tensions between India and Pakistan, both teams are now facing travel challenges.
Delhi Capitals vs Punjab Kings Match Unaffected
Despite the travel disruptions, the match between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings scheduled for May 8 in Dharamsala will go ahead as planned. Both teams had already arrived before the airport shutdown.
An official from the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association stated that they have not received any official notification from the BCCI or government to cancel the match, so they are proceeding as scheduled.
After their match in Dharamsala, Delhi Capitals are expected to travel by road to New Delhi for their next game against Gujarat Titans on May 11, as airport closures continue in the region.
Despite the tense situation between India and Pakistan, a BCCI source confirmed to India Today that the IPL 2025 will go on as planned. The board is closely monitoring the situation but has no plans to halt the tournament.
