IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) suffered a huge setback, as their in-form batter Devdutt Padikkal was ruled out of the IPL 2025 due to injury. Led by Rajat Patidar, RCB have performed admirably in the competition, securing the second position in the points table with eight wins across eleven outings.
However, as they inch closer to the IPL 2025 playoffs, here are three setbacks that could derail their campaign in the tournament.

(Devdutt Padikkal's stats in IPL 2025)
Devdutt Padikkal was one of the most consistent performers for RCB in the IPL 2025. With Phil Salt ensuring rollicking starts, Padikkal used to form excellent partnerships with Virat Kohli, helping RCB script several memorable wins in the tournament.
Overall, he amassed 247 runs at a superb average of 27.4 and a blistering strike rate of 150.61, showcasing remarkable batting form. Therefore, his injury ensured RCB lost one of their in-form batters which could cost them in the upcoming matches.
RCB captain Rajat Patidar hasn't lived up to the expectations in the IPL 2025. The explosive batter has managed only two fifty-plus scores, scoring 239 runs at an ordinary average of 23.90 across ten innings.
Patidar's inconsistent form has certainly destabilised RCB's batting momentum on multiple occasions. And now, with Salt and Padikkal injured and Patidar not fulfilling his potential, RCB seem slightly over-reliant on Virat Kohli to succeed with the bat.
Considering he is their best bet against spin, Patidar should uplift his own game if he wants to be the first RCB captain to lift the trophy.
3. Josh Hazlewood's Injury-Prone Body
While Devdutt Padikkal has already been ruled out of the IPL 2025, ace speedster Josh Hazlewood is struggling with fitness concerns. Hazlewood has stepped up as the linchpin of the RCB bowling unit, scalping 18 wickets in 10 innings at a superb strike rate of 12.
RCB's bowling unit looked pretty ordinary in his absence, conceding 211 runs to CSK's vulnerable batting side.
Also, their other fast bowlers haven't been as good as Hazlewood. While Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been expensive on most occasions, Yash Dayal has picked less than a wicket per game, conceding runs at an economy of 9.61.
Hazlewood's career has recently been marred by injuries, with the fast bowler missing out on several crucial assignments, including the ICC Champions Trophy.
Thus, if Australian pacer doesn't recover in time, RCB could suffer some serious consequences in their upcoming fixtures.
