Punjab Kings (PBKS) are set to take on Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 58th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The match is scheduled for Thursday, May 8, at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala, which is PBKS’s home ground. Both teams have a lot at stake as they look to secure their spots in the playoffs.

Axar Patel's DC are under pressure as they head into this crucial match. Their recent performance has been disappointing, with just one win in their last five games. Currently placed fifth on the points table with 13 points, DC needs a victory to keep their playoff hopes alive.

However, there is growing concern that rain could play spoilsport during the PBKS vs DC match.

According to the meteorological department, Dharamsala is expected to experience rainy and unsettled weather until May 8. This raises doubts about the smooth conduct of the game. According to AccuWeather, the morning is expected to have showers with occasional breaks, accompanied by cooler temperatures. In the afternoon, light rain is likely to continue, while the night might see broken clouds with possible thunderstorms in some areas.

There is a 40% chance of rain, a 24% chance of thunderstorms, and around 78% cloud cove during the match. With these unpredictable weather conditions, there is a considerable risk that the match could face delays or even be abandoned.

What Are PBKS and DC's Playoff Scenarios?

PBKS are in a relatively strong position, sitting third on the points table with 15 points from 11 matches. A win against DC would not only take them to the top but also secure their place in the playoffs. Even if they lose, they still have two more matches to confirm their qualification by winning just one of them.

On the other hand, DC finds themselves in a tricky situation. With 13 points from 11 matches, they need to win at least two of their remaining three games to secure a playoff spot.

If they manage to win all three, they could even aim for a top-two finish. However, a loss against PBKS would put them in a do-or-die situation for their final two fixtures.
