In a dramatic turn of events, former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir and S Sreesanth were involved in a fiery battle on the field during the Eliminator match between India Capitals and Gujarat Giants in the ongoing Legends League Cricket 2023 at Surat.

The incident took place during the second over of the match. Gambhir, who opened the batting for the capitals, welcomed Sreesanth in his first over with a six over mid wicket and a boundary down the ground the very next ball. In reply, Sreesanth bowled two consecutive dot balls and did not hold himself back to exchange some words with Gambhir.

The left-hander was looking in great touch and Sreesanth, who is known for his aggressive nature on the field, attempted to provoke the Capitals’ skipper and break his concentration. However, Gambhir, whom we have seen being involved in so many heated moments on the field during his playing days, looked mystified by Sreesanth’s behavior and continued his batting.

Gambhir went on to score 31 off 17 balls in the powerplay as Capitals had 60 for no loss on the board at the end of the first six overs. After being asked to bat first, India Capitals posted a huge 223 for 7 in the first innings. Gambhir and fellow opener Kirk Edwards added 65 runs for the first wicket and laid a perfect foundation to post a big score for the Capitals.

Gambhir departed after a brilliant 30-ball 51. The middle-order and lower middle-order batters chipped in with quick cameos to continue the flow of runs which propelled the Capitals to a big target.

Eventually, India Capital bowlers did the rest of the job in the second innings, restricting Gujarat 12 runs short of the target to get through to the Qualifier 2 Match against Manipal Tigers, on Thursday, December 7th.
