Mohammad Yousuf Appointed As Pakistan’s Under 19’s Head Coach

Former Pakistan captain Mohammad Yousuf has been appointed as the head coach of the Pakistan Under-19 team. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed the announcement on November 18, i.e., a few weeks before the Under-19 Asia Cup.

Yousuf has previously served the Pakistan national team as their batting coach and is widely regarded as one of the greatest Test batters of all time.

Mohammad Yousuf becomes PAK Under-19 coach

Mohammad Yousuf has been appointed as the head coach of the Pakistan Under-19 team by the PCB. One of the first assignments in his newfound role will be to oversee the junior team in the upcoming Under-19 Asia Cup as well as in the Under-19 World Cup.

Yousuf has expressed his excitement over becoming the head coach of the Under-19 side, and added that he is looking forward to leading the side in their forthcoming multi-nation tournaments. In a press release, the former Pakistan Test captain said:

“I am pleased to join as Pakistan U19 head coach and feel honoured to have been given the opportunity to contribute to Pakistan cricket by Chairman PCB Management Committee Mr Zaka Ashraf. I am eagerly looking forward to the upcoming U19 Asia Cup and ICC U19 World Cup tournaments, which are crucial to the players’ growth and we will be aiming to do our best in these events.”

Earlier in the same, the PCB also appointed former speedster Sohail Tanvir as the new chairman of the junior selection committee. The latest regime change comes against the backdrop of an overhaul within Pakistan’s cricketing structure, which also recently an alteration in the national team’s captaincy.

Regardless, Mohammad Yousuf is expected to join the Pakistan Under-19 training camp in the next few days. The Under-19 Asia Cup, set to be played in the UAE between December 8 and December 17, will be followed by the Under-19 World Cup in Sri Lanka in January next year.
