Ahead of the first ODI between India and Sri Lanka, captain Rohit Sharma shared a heartwarming message for his fans, who have been missing him in the shortest format for India.

In a video shared by the BCCI, Rohit Sharma talks about the memories he and his team made during and after the T20 World Cup triumph. He hilariously even said that he sometimes wishes to "wear his pads for the T20I" before saying it's time to "move on."

He even talked about the new era in Indian Cricket with new coach Gautam Gambhir, saying that his and the new head coach's "partnership" will elevate Indian Cricket to its "paramount" level.

Rohit Sharma, who retired from the T20I format last month, will hit the field for the first time since playing the iconic T20 World Cup final against South Africa in Barbados.

As Rahul Dravid called off his time after India's triumph in the West Indies, Gautam Gambhir has taken over as India's new head coach. However, the ODIs against Sri Lanka will be Rohit-Gambhir's maiden assignment as captain-coach.

Meanwhile, Gambhir has already kicked off his India coaching stint with a fantastic whitewash over the Lankans in the T20Is. The Suryakumar Yadav-led unit outclassed the opposition with some tactically brilliant plans.

Nevertheless, the ODIs between India and Sri Lanka will begin on Friday afternoon in Colombo.
