The much-awaited ODI series between India and Sri Lanka is about to kickstart from Friday. As Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will seen for the first time since winning the 2024 T20 World Cup, the craze among fans and pundits is at its peak.

After dominating in the T20Is, India's major headache is team composition. KL Rahul was brilliant for Team India in the last ODI World Cup, but Rishabh Pant's re-emergence could challenge his place in the setup.

During the press conference on the eve of the first ODI, the Indian captain addressed whether KL Rahul or Pant would play. He confirmed that only one of the two would be part of the first game.

"It's difficult to choose between KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant. Both are match-winners in their own way. But it's a happy problem and I want to have that kind of problems," Rohit Sharma said on the eve of the Sri Lanka ODIs.

In the last couple of years, Rahul has cemented in place in the middle order in the ODI format. And in the explosive southpaw's absence, KL Rahul repeatedly pulled India out of trouble from a tricky situation.

However, Pant came from a solid IPL and did quite well in India's triumph during the T20 World Cup. Meanwhile, the 26-year-old played in the T20I against Sri Lanka as well, where he scored a 49 and 2*.
