Kane Williamson, the star New Zealand batter has been ruled out of the 3rd Test Vs India, starting on November 1 at the Wankhede Stadium. Williamson suffered from a groin injury during the Sri Lanka tour and subsequently missed the first two Tests Vs India.

Despite his absence, the Kiwis scripted history and won a Test series in India for the first time. Under the leadership of Tom Latham, the visitors played some outstanding cricket and have already taken a 2-0 lead in the series.

Williamson won't travel to Mumbai for the series finale and instead, will continue his rehab in New Zealand to prepare for the England Test series, which begins towards the end of November.

Black Caps head coach, Gary Stead stated that Williamson has made progress towards his recovery, but a cautious approach will be taken so that he is ready for the English challenge next month.

“Kane continues to show good signs, but isn’t quite ready to jump on a plane and join us,” said Stead.

“While things are looking promising, we think the best course of action is for him to stay in New Zealand and focus on the final part of his rehabilitation so he’ll be good to go for England. “The England series is still a month away so taking the cautious approach now will ensure he is ready for the first Test in Christchurch.”

New Zealand script history in India

Many expected the Kiwis to miss the services of Williamson in India, however, the visitors showed their class and outplayed the home team in both the Test matches. In the first Test, the Kiwi bowlers bundled India out for a paltry 46 runs, and the Indian side never recovered from the jolt.

Despite a good batting performance in the second innings, the visiting side had a modest target to chase, which they did with ease.

Then, in the second Test in Pune, it was Mitch Santner show as the off-break bowler grabbed 13 wickets in the match to rattle the Indian batters. He picked up a fifer in both the innings as preparing a spin surface backfired on the Indian team as they crumbled in front of a hostile bowling to hand the Black Caps a memorable series win.
