The off-field issues are hampering Pakistan cricket at the moment, and one of the biggest controversy is surrounding the aggressive batter, Fakhar Zaman. The power-packed batter was excluded from PCB's central contract list, a decision which raised quite a few eyebrows.
A few days ago, Fakhar Zaman tweeted in support of Babar Azam and questioned PCB's decision to drop him from the Test side Vs England. He stated that dropping Babar would send a negative message to the side. Also, he compared Babar with Kohli and it didn't go well with the PCB, as they sent him a show-cause notice.
Now, at a press conference on Sunday, PCB Chief, Mohsin Naqvi has revealed the real reason as to why Fakhar was removed from the contract list. Naqvi asserted that tweet against PCB was one of the major reason, but there are other issues as well.
"Tweet was one issue, but the bigger matter was that of fitness. There is a show-cause notice pending against him, and we will see about that. He would need to prove his fitness, his point of view was valued in the Connection Camp and I am very thankful to him for that but you cannot go around commenting on the selection committee over selection calls. But ya, the bigger issue is of selection," Mohsin Naqvi said in the press conference.
PCB released their central contract list and a couple of big names were missing from the list, including that of Fakhar, who now sits on a ticking bomb as he needs to prove his fitness before it gets late.
Pakistan announce their new white-ball captain
On Sunday, Pakistan announced Mohammad Rizwan as the new white-ball captain, replacing former skipper, Babar Azam.
Babar stepped down from the post due to internal tussles within the team, as it affected his batting performance. Salman Ali Agha, who had a terrific Test series Vs England was announced as Rizwan's deputy for the upcoming Zimbabwe tour. PCB also announced the white-ball squads for the Australia and Zimbabwe tour, and tour Down Under will be a stern test for Rizwan.
