In the latest development around Bangladesh cricket, a case has been filed against veteran Mashrafe Mortaza for assaulting protestors in recent events in Bangladesh.  Mortaza has been accused of allegedly attacking students and the public during the anti-discrimination movement.

Not just Mortaza, but his father has also been named in the list of accused. Sheikh Mostafa Al-Muzahidur Rahman filed the complaint at Narail Sadar Police Station against the veteran Bangladeshi seamer.

Meanwhile, the station police officer shed light on the details of the incident that occurred on August 4 and stated that Mashrafe alongside, his father, held a rally at the Narail intersection and had a few armed men with them. When the students, who were demanding Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s resignation, reached the Russel Bridge area, they were allegedly attacked by the group, leading to a clash.

Mashrafe Mortaza's House Set On Fire

Following the ouster of EX-BAN PM Sheikh Hasina, Mortaza dealt a blow after his house was put on fire by the violent protestors amid the chaos in Bangladesh. Earlier, there were reports that it was Litton Das whose house was set ablaze, but later it was confirmed to be of Mortaza.

Case Filed Against Shakib Al Hasan

Earlier, veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan was also named in a murder case during the political tensions. Rafiqul Islam, the father of Mohammed Rubel, who was killed in the protests, filed the case at Adabor police station in Dhaka.

It had created a big chaos as there were doubts over Shakib's participation in the recently concluded Pakistan series, which eventually the Tigers won handsomely. Nonetheless, Shakib has penned a deal with Surrey and will skip practice in Bangladesh ahead of the crucial India series starting on September 19.
