Marnus Labuschagne In, Ashton Agar Out? Here Is Australia's Finalised World Cup Squad

The World Cup 2023 in India is just around the corner and with the last date for World Cup squad finalisation being 28th of September, the suspense around Australia's final World Cup squad is increasing with each passing moment. Ashton Agar has been ruled out of World Cup due to a calf injury and Marnus Labuschagne who has done pretty well in recent times in ODIs, might just get a wild-card entry into the Australian squad.

The other injured player, Travis Head will most probably miss initial 6 Australian games in the tournament but is likely to be retained due to the value his add to the squad. Australia recently played ODI series against South Africa and India, but lost both of them with many of their frontline players missing the series. They, however, are power-packed unit and have almost all bases covered, despite some injury concerns.

Tanveer Sangha, a young leg-spinner who was recently part of the series against India, might also make a cut as Ashton Agar is a spinner and Sangha will add the depth in their spin department. If Aussie selectors go for like-to-like replacement in the form of Tanveer Sangha, then Marnus Labuschagne will only make it to the final squad, if Travis Head is not considered due to a hand injury he suffered during the series against the Proteas.

There are plenty of options at Australia's disposal and it would be interesting to see their final call for the all-important world event.

Australia are scheduled to play two warm-up games against Netherlands and Pakistan before they kick-off their World Cup 2023 campaign with a big game against India at Chennai on 8th of October.
