‘Recipe For Disaster..’ - Moin Khan Slams PCB Medical Panel For Naseem Shah Injury

As one of their star pacers, Naseem Shah, is expected to miss the entire ODI World Cup due to a shoulder injury, Pakistan have been dealt a huge blow before the grandest event of cricket.

The 20-year-old has exceptional numbers in the ODIs, having picked up 32 wickets in 14 matches at an average of just 17. Therefore, his absence from an attack that boasts of having Haris Rauf and Shaheen Afridi will be a major miss for the Men in Green.

Moin Khan, a former Pakistan wicket-keeper and captain, criticized the entire Pakistan medical staff for their lack of concern for Naseem blow, despite the bowler's numerous complaints. The whole incident, according to the 52-year-old, was a "recipe for disaster."

"Naseem's injury is a disaster for Pakistan's team medical panel and physiotherapist. Because he has been constantly complaining that he has been having problems for three to four months, yet they have been continuously playing him. A player would always wish to not get dropped, but when he is telling you about his injury, you have to take it very seriously. The medical panel didn't take it seriously. This was a recipe for disaster," Moin Khan told Cricket Pakistan.

Moin, at the same time, backed the PCB's decision to bring back Hasan Ali as Naseem's replacement, calling it justified. Hasan last played an ODI for Pakistan in June 2022 against the West Indies. However, his recent success in the domestic circuit has earned him a recall.

"The authorities in PCB should task them [medical panel] because we suffered a great loss ahead of World Cup when Naseem was in form and was bowling extraordinarily. And which is why now we have to take Hassan Ali. Hassan Ali is an experienced bowler, who has been through similar circumstances. From that point of view, this decision is suitable and Hassan Ali's selection is justified," Moin concluded.

Pakistan, led by Babar Azam, have already reached Hyderabad to prepare themselves for the World Cup. There, yhey will play New Zealand on September 29 in their first of the two-match warm-up games before beginning the actual campaign on October 6, against the Netherlands at the same venue.
