Marco Jansen, Laura Wolvaardt Win Big At CSA Annual Awards For 2023-24 Season

South African women’s captain Laura Wolvaardt and men’s fast bowler Marco Jansen won some of the biggest prizes at the annual CSA awards for the 2023-24 season. Quinton de Kock and Reeza Hendricks also bagged huge awards for their batting excellence in white-ball cricket.

Wolvaardt, in particular, bagged five awards in total including recognitions for Women’s ODI as well as T20I Player of the Year. The prolific opening batter also seized Women’s Players’ Player of the Year and Fans’ Player of the Year awards.

Marco Jansen dominates men’s category in CSA awards

South African fast bowler Marco Jansen was adjudged Men’s Player of the Year for his all-round contributions throughout the 2023-24 season. The lanky paceman starred in South Africa’s ‘Boxing Day’ Test win over India and also collected 17 wickets at the 2023 ODI World Cup.

Laura Wolvaardt, meanwhile, won the Women’s Player of the Year at the CSA awards ceremony. Additionally, she bagged the awards for Women’s ODI and T20I Player of the Year, and was declared the winner of the Women’s Players’ Player of the Year and Fans’ Player of the Year awards.

David Bedingham won Men’s Test Player of the Year for his impressive debut season against India and New Zealand. Bedingham also bagged the Men’s Newcomer of the Year award for notching up two half-centuries and a ton in his initial Test appearances itself.

Quinton de Kock was named Men’s ODI Player of the Year for his prolific run at the 2023 World Cup, and Reeza Hendricks won the Men’s T20I Player of the Year award. All-round apparent and senior spinner Keshav Maharaj took home the Men’s Players’ Player of the Year honor at the ceremony.

The latest CSA Annual Awards recognized players for their contributions between the 12-month period from May 1, 2023 till August 30, 2024.

As of now, the South African men’s cricket team is gearing up to face Afghanistan for a short white-ball series in Sharjah. On the other hand, the women’s team is prepping itself for a T20I series against Pakistan and for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 in the UAE.
