Pakistan cricket is known for its unexpected nature and in recent times, the disruption in the system has increased quite a lot. They have performed poorly on big stages and big players like Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi were recently dropped. They have a new captain in white-ball format now in the form of Mohammad Rizwan, but along with it, a shocking news of Gary Kirsten's resignation also arrived on Monday morning.

Gary Kirsten was appointed as Pakistan's head coach in white-ball format before the T20 World Cup 2024, but it turned out to be a disaster and was widely criticised after the event. He also pointed out differences in the Pakistan team after the poor performance in the World Cup, and since then there have been doubts over his future with the Pakistan team. He has now resigned ahead of the Australian tour and, it has brought the differences in Pakistan cricket wide open again.

Pakistan Lose World Cup Winning Coach

Gary Kirsten is highly respected in world cricket. He was a great opening batter during his time and as a head coach, he won the World Cup 2011 with India. He was also the head coach of Gujarat Titans and under him they won the IPL trophy in their very first season. So, his resignation has created a lot of buzz on social media with fans trolling PCB and consoling South African for his suffering in Pakistan cricket.

Many fans on social media platform X, called PCB as Pakistan comedy board while some fans have come with hilarious viral memes using Gary Kirsten's face. Sushant Mehta, the Indian journalist mentioned that Gary Kirsten thought that Pakistan would be like India and paid a heavy price.

Jason Gillespie who was just the head coach in Test cricket for Pakistan before Kirsten's resignation is now the head coach of white-ball formats for the Australian tour. However, there is no clarity whether he would don the role for a long-term basis or is just a make-shift option.
