Days after unfollowing Indian captain Rohit Sharma on Instagram, Shubman Gill cleared rift rumours by posting multiple pictures with Rohit and his daughter Samaira with a quirky caption.

Shubman Gill, the travelling reserve for the 2024 T20 World Cup, has been released from the Indian squad following the conclusion of group stages. The USA leg of the tournament has ended, and the Super 8 teams will travel to the West Indies for the rest of the ICC event.

Hence, Gill and Avesh Khan have been released, as the team already has enough backups at their helm. However, moments after the news came out, Gill unfollowed captain Rohit Sharma from Instagram, giving rise to speculations of an internal rift.

However, before the rumours could take a wild turn, Shubman Gill posted an Instagram story to clear the air. Gill shared a couple of pictures from his hotel room with Rohit and his daughter Samaira, and he said that he and Sammy were learning the art of discipline from Rohit.

Notably, Gill used the caption to take a dig at people who were spreading misinformation about him. Apparently, some insiders claimed that Shubman Gill was axed on the grounds of disciplinary action as he violated terms of being a travel reserve.

However, BCCI sources later clarified that no disciplinary action has been initiated against any player whatsoever. They simply wanted to trim down the team and remove players whose services were no longer required.

Having said that, the Indian team led by Rohit Sharma will advance to the Super 8 stage and have been pencilled in Group 1 alongside Australia and Afghanistan.
