Indian women's side is set to face the touring South Africa in all formats starting from Sunday, June 16 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Ahead of the series, the Indian skipper, Harmanpreet Kaur spoke about playing the ODIs before T20s and the players returning from injuries and making a comeback after long layoffs.

While talking about playing ODI games before the T20Is, and keeping the upcoming T20 World Cup, Kaur talked about the importance of getting into the groove with the longer format before heading into the T20Is,

"We take it [ODIs] as an opportunity to go to T20s, because we are playing more T20 games and ODI is something where as a player you have more time to assess your yourself and the conditions," said the Indian captain.

Participations of Jemimah Rodrigues and Pooja who were recovering from a back injury and unspecified injuries respectively were still when they were named in the squads, however, captain Kaur has given some good news regarding the the two, calling them fit and fine.

She also touched upon the returning Priya Punia and Arundhati Reddy who last played for India in 2021.

"They [Jemimah and Vastrakar] are absolutely fine, and they are right now even having a hit at nets. They are fit for the game. Jemi is very experienced and provides fine balance to our unit.

"They [Punia and Reddy] are performers in domestics, so, we didn't ignore the way they have been performing. They have proven themselves. I am really happy the way Arundhati played in the WPL. Priya has also performed well in domestic One Days. When they are back, our team gets quite balanced,” she concluded.
