India A is playing in the 2024 edition of the Men's Emerging Asia Cup in Oman. In their second outing of the tournament, the Indian unit, led by Tilak Varma, convincingly defeated the United Arab Emirates.
UAE failed to post a competitive total
UAE won the toss and opted to bat first. The Indian bowling unit put them under pressure from the very beginning. Rahul Chopra was the only UAE batter who showed some resilience and scored a run-ball half-century to take the team past the 100 mark.
Ayush Badoni pulled off a stunner
During the UAE innings, the spectators witnessed a brilliant fielding effort by the young Indian middle-order batter Ayush Badoni. On the last delivery of the 15th over, Ramandeep Singh bowled a full delivery at the leg stump line. Jawadullah cleared his front foot and tried to loft the ball over the long-on region. Although not brilliantly timed, the ball was sailing away over the ropes. Ayush Badoni ran from the wide long-on position and dived in the air to take a brilliant catch.
Returning to the match, India did not have much trouble winning the game. Abhishek Sharma played a blinder of 58 runs from 24 deliveries and finished off the game as a competition pretty early. Even though they lost three wickets, India managed to chase down the target in 10.5 overs and register a convincing win to their account.
After this win, the Indian team secured the first position in the points table for Group B. They will play their last league game against Oman on October 23. They will look to move on to the next round with a spotless record in the league stage.
