Kris Srikkanth Slams Critics Calling Virat Kohli's 48th ODI Century 'Selfish'

One of the best chasers in One-Day cricket, Virat Kohli mastered yet another win for India, helping his side beat Bangladesh last evening in Pune in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

In doing so, Kohli also slammed his 48th ODI century, which found some fans and critics lashing out at the former Indian captain for denying singles during the end of India's chase.

The batter played as many as eight dot balls in the last three overs of India's chase, which finished in 41.3 overs. Kohli took 30 balls to reach from 73 to 103 and complete his 48th hundred, inviting criticism from some quarters, stating how it affected India's net run-rate.

However, former India opener Kris Srikkanth has come out in support of the batting maestro, and hit back at all critics, who label Kohli's knock as 'selfish'.

The 1983 World Cup-winner took to social media platform 'X', and questioned the cricketing acumen of people criticising Kohli, while lauding KL Rahul as well.

Here's what Srikkanth posted

"What is wrong in what Virat did? I question ppl who don't understand cricket, note it is a huge deal to score a century in a world cup, @imVkohli deserves this & much more! kudos to a team man likek@klrahul  who deserved it against AUS in Chennai! Enjoy when u still can #INDvsBAN".

With this unbeaten 103*, Kohli has jumped second in the list of leading run-getters in ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 with 259, behind Rohit Sharma (265).

After beating Bangladesh in Pune, the Rohit Sharma-led India will face New Zealand in Dharamsala on Sunday. Both the teams are currently unbeaten in this World Cup.
