Former Bengal batter Shreevats Goswami, who once played alongside Virat Kohli in the Under-19 World Cup, criticised Rishabh Pant on Twitter for an unusual tweet about Neeraj Chopra, who is set to compete in the men's javelin throw final on August 8.

Rishabh Pant had promised to pay 100,089 rupees to the user who liked and commented the most on his post if Chopra won a gold medal. Additionally, he pledged flight tickets to 10 other individuals who did the same.

Goswami expressed his amazement at Rishabh Pant's tweet and advised him to dismiss his public relations (PR) team, which he believed was behind Pant's attempt to rally support for Chopra on social media.

Chopra qualified for the javelin throw final with an impressive 89.34m throw on his first attempt and aims to surpass 90m to defend his Olympic gold at the Paris Olympics.

In the recently concluded series, the 'Men in Blue' faced a shocking defeat in the final ODI of the bilateral series against Sri Lanka on Wednesday, August 7.

For the final match of the series, Rishabh Pant replaced KL Rahul but failed to make a strong impact with the bat. Chasing a target of 249/7, Pant arrived at No. 4 as the team lost their openers Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma.

The wicketkeeper batter failed to make the most of his opportunity as he was dismissed for mere 6 runs in 9 balls, by Maheesh Theekshana. Indian batters failed to contribute and in the end, India lost the match by 110 runs and the series ended 2-0 in Sri Lanka's favour.
