The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 mini auction is likely to take place in December, but before the auction date, teams are allowed to make signings through the trade window. This period allows all ten franchises to strengthen their squad, either via a full-cash deal, or by offering a player in exchange.
The pace has picked up, and multiple teams are trying to poach players from other teams, and in this article, we will talk about all the trade rumours, which took place in the month of August.
1) Samson requests RR to release him
Last month, it was reported that the Chennai Super Kings are trying to purchase Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson, in a trade deal. At the start of the month, it was reported that Samson had decided to stay with the franchise and rejected CSK for another season; however, a few weeks earlier, the Kerala batter reportedly took a U-turn and requested RR to release him ahead of the mini auction.
However, the franchise is in no hurry to release him since Samson is contractually bound and cannot leave the franchise, unless RR decides to release him or trade him.
2) RR ask for 3 CSK stars
With Samson reportedly interested in joining CSK, RR don't want to easily let him go, and the franchise have tested CSK's negotiation skills by reportedly asking for three of their stars in return.
The former IPL winners have asked for Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shivam Dube, and Ravindra Jadeja in return for Samson, but CSK rejected the idea.
3) KKR likely to sacrifice Ramandeep Singh
Not only CSK, but KKR are also eyeing Sanju Samson, who is in demand. Apart from releasing Venkatesh Iyer, KKR are also trying to release Ramandeep Singh, who had a poor IPL 2025 season. By releasing him, the franchise would free up 4 crore, and that would mean more money to lure Samson in their side.
