Tilak Varma was included in India’s 15-player squad for the upcoming 2025 Men’s T20 Asia Cup by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) earlier this month. The attacking left-handed last played a T20I for Team India back in February this year during a five-match home T20I series against England.

Varma also turned up for Hampshire for a handful of four-day and 50-overs fixtures in the 2025 County Championship and One-Day Cups in England. After grinding out in England’s domestic tournaments, the 22-year-old turned inward to faith at Tirupati, seeking strength beyond the cricket field ahead of the continental spectacle.

Tilak Varma Trades Nets For Nirvana At Tirupati Balaji Temple

On Tuesday, August 26; Indian batter Tilak Varma took to his Instagram account to share a picture of his visit to the Tirupati Balaji Temple in Andhra Pradesh to seek blessings ahead of the upcoming 2025 Men’s T20 Asia Cup in the UAE.

In the caption, Varma simply wrote: “Devotion”.

Tilak Varma recently enjoyed a prolific stint with the Hampshire cricket club in England, where he plundered two centuries and a fifty in the County Championship, and an additional match-winning 54 during a One-Day Cup match against Essex earlier this month.

Even in the IPL 2025 season, the blistering left-handed batter racked up 343 runs in 13 innings for the Mumbai Indians franchise at an average of 31.18 and with a strike rate of nearly 140.

Overall, in T20Is for Team India, Tilak Varma has tallied 749 runs at an astonishing average of 49.93. He smeared two match-winning hundreds in South Africa late last year to star in India’s 3-1 series win against the hosts. Varma’s overall track record and recent form will surely put him in good stead for India in the 2025 Asia Cup.
