The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 is still a few months away, but all ten teams have begun to think about the next season and are actively seeking to acquire players through trade deals ahead of the mini auction. The trade window opened after IPL 2025 finale, and will continue before the start of the mini auction.

It allows teams to bolster their squad by buying players in a trade deal - either by exchanging players, or by giving away cash. Last month, several trade rumours started, with some prominent and others groundbreaking. If the rumours are true, then it could change the landscape of the league.

Here are all the trade rumours which started last month, and could take a positive turn in the upcoming months.

1) Sanju Samson to CSK

Perhaps the biggest trade rumour came at the start of last month, when reports stated that Sanju Samson could be on his way to the five-time IPL champions, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Samson is the current captain of the Rajasthan Royals, but he played only a handful of games in IPL 2025 due to an injury.

Samson to CSK makes sense since the Yellow Army needs a solid wicket-keeper replacement for MS Dhoni, and Samson fits in the role perfectly. Plus, he could be a long-term captaincy option for the CSK, and hence, the franchise could probably go after him.

2) KL Rahul to KKR

Another big trade rumour, which started last month, was the potential arrival of KL Rahul to the Kolkata Knight Riders. Before the IPL 2025 season, KL joined Delhi Capitals from the Lucknow Super Giants. But the 3-time IPL champions are already planning to take him away from the Capitals.

With Phil Salt gone and his replacements not performing up to the mark, KKR needs a solid keeper in the team, and Rahul is the perfect replacement. He can also be a brilliant candidate to lead KKR, since Ajinkya Rahane's leadership was questioned throughout last season.

3) Venkatesh Iyer in high demand

KKR spent 23.75 crore on buying Indian all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer, but he failed to deliver the goods, and KKR could look to release him ahead of next season. As per reports, several franchises have kept their eyes on Venkatesh, including the Sunrisers Hyderabad, and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

The two teams are aiming to bolster their middle order, and are planning to bring Venkatesh in the team.'

4) Ishan Kishan to KKR

Ishan Kishan was bought with a lot of hope by the Sunrisers last season. However, despite scoring a century on his first outing for them, Kishan flopped in the remaining games. Now, SRH, who bought him for 11.25 crore, are planning to release him.

Reportedly, KKR are trying to lure him in their squad, as the team needs a opener, and a keeper at the same time.
