Ishan Kishan to lead again as Jharkhand announce 20-member squad for VHT 2025-26

In a recent development, Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) have announced a 20-member squad led by Ishan Kishan for the Vijay Hazare Trophy Elite 2025-26. The squad was announced officially on JSCA’s Instagram handle, where they shared a public post with the members' names.

Notably, Jharkhand belongs to the Elite Group A of the tournament, which is slated to begin on December 24. The prestigious domestic tournament will see teams from all the Elite groups (A, B, C, D) and Plate groups clash against each other on the inaugural day, as Jharkhand will lock horns with Karnataka.

Ishan Kishan set to lead Jharkhand in VHT 2025-26

After a successful Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025 stint, where Ishan Kishan led the team to a trophy, the wicketkeeper-batter has been named again as the captain of the team to lead the young guns.

Notably, Kishan has also been named in the New Zealand T20I series and T20 World Cup squad for India too; however, with his national commitments set to begin from January 18 and the VHT final set for January 18, his participation throughout the domestic tournament is prettly likely.

Ishan Kishan is set to feature in all of the matches, given that he is not called for the first T20I against New Zealand and Jharkhand manage to reach the Final of the tournament.

Jharkhand boast strong squad for Vijay Hazare Trophy

Besides Ishan Kishan, there are many rising popular young names who have featured in the squad. 

Kumar Kushargra, who shared a batting blitz with Kishan in SMAT, has been named the vice-captain of the squad while names like Robin Minz, and KKR fame Anukul Roy also features in the squad to add to the potential.

For the unaware, Jharkhand is placed alongside teams like Karnataka, Kerala, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Tripura, Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry in Group A. The group stages conclude on January 8, 2026 with Jharkhand playing their last fixture against Tripura.
