In a major development and a big boost to the Indian team, star opener, Shubman Gill is likely to play against Pakistan on October 14 at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

Gill, suffered from Dengue a couple of days before the start of the World Cup, and was closely monitored by the BCCI doctors. Till Tuesday, there was very little chance for Gill to make it into the India playing XI for the Pakistan clash.

However, things took a positive turn when the youngster travelled to Ahmedabad, and had a hour long practice session on Thursday.

As per OneCricket reports, Gill has arrived for the last training session ahead of the Pakistan game, and is likely to have another extended practice session, which indicates that the team management is happy with his health progress.

In the training session yesterday, Gill looked comfortable while batting and also took a couple of catches, showing no signs of discomfort.

Here's what Rohit said about Gill at the press conference

"Shubman Gill is 99 per cent available for the game."

Talking about India's journey in the World Cup 2023, they kick-started the tournament with a tricky win against Australia, and followed it up with a thumping win over Afghanistan.

India and Pakistan have clashed 7 times against each other in World Cups, and interestingly, the Indian side has won all the seven contests.
