'World Cup Has Not Been..', Babar Azam On Dismal Form Ahead Of India Clash

Ahead of the much-anticipated World Cup 2023 match between arch-rivals India and Pakistan, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam addressed concerns regarding his personal ODI record against the Men in Blue during the pre-match press conference.

When probed about his not-so-flattering track record against India in ODIs, Babar admitted that his World Cup journey so far hasn't quite lived up to his expectations. However, he remains hopeful and confident that fans might witness a turnaround in his performance in the upcoming matches.

"My World Cup till right now has not been as it should have been - but hopefully you will see some difference in the next matches,” said Babar.

Pointing out the infrequent encounters between the two teams, Babar pointed out the lengthy intervals between their face-offs, with matches mainly occurring during the World Cup. This, he believes, is a significant factor contributing to the inconsistency in individual player records.

Responding to the question about any specific Indian bowler being a challenge, Azam dismissed the notion. Instead, he candidly accepted that often his dismissals were a result of his own errors rather than a particular bowler's prowess. 

The Pakistani captain reiterated his commitment to minimising mistakes and focusing on delivering a stellar performance against India.

“Against India, we only come face to face in the World Cup. There is a big gap. It's not that because of a bowler or... I say that I sometimes get out because of my mistake. I try to make as few mistakes as possible,” added the Pakistan skipper.
