In a big jolt for the Australian side, star pacer, Josh Hazlewood will miss the forthcoming T20I series against Scotland due to a calf injury.

Hazlewood gives injury scare to Aussie side

Hazlewood sustained the injury during training last week. However, he is expected to recover in time for Australia's white-balls series against England, as per a report by ESPNCricinfo.

In his absence, Riley Meredith, the tearaway pacer gets an opportunity to play in the T20Is against the Scottish side. Interestingly, this will be Meredith's first game for the Australian side, since 2021, and he gets a great opportunity to showcase his worth in the game's shortest format.

The lanky pacer is not the only bowler to have been ruled out of the T20Is. Earlier, Spencer Johnson was also ruled out of the series, following an injury he suffered during the recently concluded The Hundred competition.

Australia to travel with an inexperienced side

The Aussies will have a depleted bowling attack for the Scotland tour, Xavier Bartlett, Sean Abbott, and Nathan Ellis forming the core. Mitch Marsh will lead the Australian side in the entire tour, as Pat Cummins will be given the rest ahead of the tough fixtures for the Aussies.

The 3-match T20I series against Scotland commences from September 4 in Edinburgh. Following which, the Australian side will play a white-ball series against rivals, England.
