England star seamer Jofra Archer, who sent shockwaves to the cricketing world after his name was missing from the shortened list of 574 players for the mega-auction, is likely to take a U-turn on his earlier decision. He is set to enter the mega-auction to be held on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah in Saudi Arabia.
It is worth noting that Archer had registered his name for the IPL 2025 mega-auction, and his name was present in the initial list of 1574 players. However, the cricket fans were shocked to see his name missing from the shortened list, and it was hard to digest the fact that no team showed interest in the ex-MI bowler.
His exclusion was followed by reports that the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) had actually stopped Archer and Mark Wood, two of England's injury-prone stars, from participating in the cash-studded league to focus on the English summer.
Archer Gets Green Light From ECB
In the latest events, The Cricketer reported that Archer held talks with the ECB and expressed his desire to play in the IPL. The report mentioned that England's apex cricket board has given the green light to the right-arm seamer to re-register for the mega-auction.
However, the BCCI is also involved in the matter, as the list is already out, and the Roger Binny-led board too have to give a green light for Archer's inclusion. It is worth noting that Archer had registerd himself at a base price of 2 crores and if he re-enters the list, his base price will remain the same.
Archer last featured for Mumbai Indians in 2023 and has had a start-stop career since then, but has played 20 matches this year and needs some more game time before the India series and Ashes.
