With that photoshoot, Pat Cummins and Jasprit Bumrah officially raised the curtains to the crucial Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The next couple of months will be action-packed as two of the strongest cricket nations collide in the toughest format of cricket.
Cummins welcomes Bumrah’s captaincy appointment
The Border-Gavaskar Trophy opener in Perth will mark a historic moment as Pat Cummins and Jasprit Bumrah become the first bowlers to lead their respective teams in this storied rivalry.
Cummins, with three years of experience as Australia’s Test captain, expressed his enthusiasm for the appointment of Bumrah as India’s captain for the first Test, saying more pacers should be encouraged to lead the team.
It makes sense coming from Cummins as his tenure has seen notable achievements, proving that fast bowlers can thrive as captains despite the physical and strategic challenges.
