Jofra Archer set to make a comeback at England Lions training camp

England's pace leader Jofra Archer is set to make his comeback to cricket after a long hiatus following multiple bouts of injuries. He has not featured in the England squad since March 2021. He was struggling with an elbow injury and later suffered a back stress fracture, he is still continuing his rehabilitation. 


England Lions training camp 

Archer has retained his central contract for the 2022-23 season and England are optimistic of his return to full fitness. He will join the England Lions' training camp which will take place in UAE next month. 

Apart from Archer, Saqib Mahmood and Brydon Carse will travel to Abu Dhabi for the camp. Alongside a 15-man Lions squad, which includes Matthew Fisher who is also making his comeback from an injury. 

The camp will stretch across November 6-27 and will conclude with a three-day practice match against England's Test team, ahead of their series against Pakistan. 

An 18-year old legspinning all-rounder Rehan Ahmed has been named in the squad and will most likely travel to Pakistan with the Test team as a net bowler. Liam Patterson-White and Sussex's Jack Carson will also feature in the camp.

Test Player preparation: Jamie Overton (both November 6-19), James Anderson, Ollie Robinson, Jack Leach, Will Jacks (all November 11-19)


Fast bowler rehab: Jofra Archer, Saqib Mahmood, Brydon Carse (November 11-27)
