In a scathing attack, PDP leader Iltija Mufti has called former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh "an average cricketer and certainly not a gentleman" after his recent revelations about a top Bollywood actress following him during India's tour of Australia in 2007-08. Yuvraj, without naming the actress, opened up about the incident during a podcast, sparking sharp criticism from various quarters.

Yuvraj’s comments, made during his appearance on the Club Prairie Fire podcast, detailed how the actress allegedly followed him to Canberra after he had asked for some distance, as he wanted to focus on his cricket.

In the interview, Yuvraj shared that the actress wanted to spend time with him despite his declining performance on the field, adding that they eventually had a conversation about their respective careers. The cricketer’s remarks have now come under fire, particularly for their insinuation that the actress was a stalker.

'Disgusting and Typical Male Behaviour,' Says Iltija Mufti

Iltija Mufti didn’t mince her words in condemning Yuvraj's comments. She expressed her disapproval, lambasting the former cricketer for boasting about a past relationship and for "putting her down by insinuating she was a stalker."

Her comments reflecyed the growing sentiment that Yuvraj’s account, while not naming the actress, was reflective of a larger issue where men attempt to trumpet their conquests to bolster their own image, leaving women to face society's harsh judgment.

“How disgusting,” Iltija began, “Typical male behaviour to trumpet his past conquests despite knowing our society will judge the woman and not him. Putting her down by insinuating she was a stalker makes it worse. An average cricketer and certainly not a gentleman."

It is worth mentioning that the reaction to Yuvraj Singh’s anecdote on social media was immediate, as people began questioning the need for him to share such personal details, especially when the woman involved has chosen to remain silent over the years.

Yuvraj's Comments: A Step Too Far?

While Yuvraj Singh may have intended to share a light-hearted story, his remarks have opened a can of worms. By recalling the actress's actions in such a manner, he inadvertently painted a picture where her professional choices are overshadowed by his narrative.

Yuvraj, who married actress Hazel Keech in 2016, is yet to respond to Iltija Mufti’s remarks, but the damage may have already been done. In the age of social media, where every comment is under scrutiny, the cricketing legend may find himself in a tight spot.
