In the latest development around Indian cricket, star seamer Jasprit Bumah has been advised complete bed rest by the doctors. According to a report from Times of India, Bumrah has developed a swelling in his back and the doctors have advised him a bed rest to let the swelling subside.
Notably, Bumrah was ruled out of the fifth Test following a back injury. In the latest events, the BCCI does not want to rush Bumrah back to cricket and he was supposed to check in at the NCA in Bengaluru, but he has been advised bed rest till the swelling doesn't subside.
“Bumrah could go to the CoE next week but right now there is no fixed date yet. He has been advised bed rest at home to help the muscles recover and the swelling to subside. Once that is done, future course of action will be ascertained," Times of India quoted a source as saying.
Bumrah To Be Ruled Out Champions Trophy 2025?
The report did not mention the exact timeline for Bumrah's injury as the diagnosis aren't clear yet. Notably, the doctors are waiting for the swelling to go and then do further scans to understand the extend of the injury and conclude whether Bumrah would be fit for the upcoming fifty-over tournament or not.
“Bed rest doesn’t sound good. I hope it’s not a disc bulge or a muscle swelling which is of a higher grade. The approach has to be similar with him – wrap him in cotton wool and preserve the talent like him," the cited source added in the report.
As of now chances looks bleak for Bumrah to get fit in time for Champions Trophy 2025. However, the fans would hope that there is no damage to the bone or disc that would rule him out for a longer time.
