After a remarkable career in England's red-ball cricket, James Anderson made a significant announcement earlier this year- his retirement from the game's longest format.

While he may have stepped back from his national duties, James Anderson is not done with cricket. In a recent podcast, The Final Word, he revealed his keen interest in exploring the world of franchise T20 cricket; 10 years since his last appearance in the shortest format.

During the podcast, James Anderson confidently expressed that he believes he can still perform as a new-ball bowler at the level of The Hundred, despite not having played in such leagues before.

"I watch the Hundred and see the ball swinging around in the first 20 balls and I think: 'I can do that, I can still do that.' I don't know if that is a viable option, to maybe see if I could do a job in white-ball cricket. Franchise cricket is something I've never done."

The 42-year-old's  fitness was never in question as decision to step aside was only to provide opportunities for the younger generation.

It was assumed that Anderson's focus would particularly be on first-class cricket where he would continue to bowl domestically; however England's record breaking Anderson's growing interest in the T20 circuit has fuelled a lot of speculations, with some of them suggesting that he could be seen playing at the Indian Premier League too.
