Former England fast bowler James Anderson is aiming to make his debut in The Hundred later this year. As per a recent report, the 42-year-old has registered his name in next week’s draft for Men’s The Hundred 2025 season.
Notably, the legendary English paceman has not played a single competitive match since his farewell Test against West Indies at Lord’s last July. Moreover, Anderson has not played a single T20 match in over a decade.

James Anderson has registered his name for The Hundred player’s draft, scheduled to be held next week. The legendary England fast bowler also registered himself for the IPL 2025 mega auction last year, however, he went unsold at the bidding event.
Anderson has not played a single game in The Hundred, and played his last T20 match more than 10 years ago back in August 2014 for Lancashire.
Apart from English local James Anderson, more than 300 men’s overseas cricketers have also registered for the drafts. The players will be competing against each other to fill limited spots across all eight Men’s The Hundred teams. The Hundred 2025 season is scheduled to be played in August later this year. As many as 34 matches will be played in the men’s edition between August 5 and August 31.
Apart from putting himself up for grabs at the draft, James Anderson also signed a one-year contract with Lancashire to feature in their 2025 English domestic season.

While James Anderson announced his retirement from international cricket last year as one of the leading wicket-takers in Test history (704 wickets), he is yet to attain significance in T20 cricket. The legendary English cricketer has played just 44 T20 matches, including 19 internationals for his country and another 24 in Vitality T20 Blast, picking up 41 wickets in the process at an expensive bowling average of 32.14.
