The stage is set for a riveting battle as India and Australia will battle it out in the semi-finals of the Champions Trophy 2025 on Tuesday. Over the years, both the teams have had fierce matches against each other, with Australia dominating the knockout matches Vs India.
Several IPL stars will also feature in the semis which will take place at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Interestingly, most of the IPL players who will feature in the semi-finals will be from the Punjab Kings (PBKS).
Ahead of the all-important India Vs Australia match, we look at 3 Punjab Kings stars who can be match-winners in the semis.
1) Shreyas Iyer

Runs | 150 |
Average | 50 |
50s/100s | 2 |
The Punjab Kings captain and the man in form for India at the moment. Shreyas Iyer was superb against arch-rivals Pakistan in a tricky run-chase and then showed his class in the recently concluded Champions Trophy match with New Zealand.
In 3 matches, he has racked up 150 runs, at an average of 50 and has two fifty-plus scores to his name. He could be a game-changer Vs Australia as the in form player could rattle the Aussies with his aggressive batting.
2) Josh Inglis
Inglis stats in Champions Trophy

Matches | 2 |
Runs | 120 |
Average | 120 |
50s/100s | 0/1 |
Had Mitch Marsh and Marcus Stoinis would have been in the team, Josh Inglis wouldn't have got a game in the Champions Trophy. But he got his opportunity and the new Punjab Kings signing backed it up with one of the best ODI hundreds of all-time.
In a mammoth run-chase Vs England, Inglis played the innings of his life and scored an unbeaten 120 to steer his side home. In Matthew Short's absence, he is likely to open and could be a trouble maker for India with his aggressive batting.
3) Glenn Maxwell
Maxwell performance Vs India in ODIs
Criterion | Data |
---|---|
Matches | 32 |
Runs | 943 |
Strike-rate | 134.13 |
50s/100s | 6/0 |
The ODI numbers may look ordinary, but Glenn Maxwell's strike-rate against India could pose a challenge for them. The maverick batter strikes at 134.13, and can snatch the game from India in the blink of an eye.
Plus, he is a handy bowler and can churn out wickets with his off-break deliveries. The Dubai surface is a paradise for spinners and Maxwell could come in handy with the ball as well.
