James Anderson, the English legend had a wish to feature in the Indian Premier League, but his dream has been shattered as all the ten IPL franchises have rejected a chance to sign the veteran player in the IPL mega auction.
Anderson had a base price of 1.25 crore, but the teams were not interested in buying his services and there were no takers for him even in the accelerated round. Seems like the high base price was one of the main reasons as to why James Anderson was excluded by the franchises.
Known for his prowess in Tests, Anderson has 704 wickets in the format and is known as one of the greatest Test bowlers of all time. However, the right-arm seamer last played a T20 game in 2014 for Lancashire, and last represented the England team in the T20I format in 2009.
He failed to weaved his magic in the T20I format and eventually decided to focus more in the Tests and that paid dividend as he became one of the best players to grace the game.
Shaw, Phillips excluded from list, Smith included
In a surprising turn of events, Prithvi Shaw, the former Delhi Capitals star was also rejected by the franchises. Shaw played for the Capitals for a number of years, but he wasn't consistent enough in the league.
However, the biggest shocker came in the form of Glenn Phillips as the franchises ignored one of the best all-rounders in the game. Interestingly, they have shown interest in Steve Smith, which has come in as a shocker.
