As the Champions Trophy looms, key players from India's squad took the field in the Ranji Trophy Elite to stay match-ready. However, apart from Ravindra Jadeja's all-round brilliance, the other marquee players failed to deliver.

Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Shreyas Iyer all failed to make a significant mark in their respective fixtures giving the iches to Indian cricket team fans. Let's take a look at how the players fared in Ranji Trophy Elite's game.

Ravindra Jadeja Dominates With The Ball 

Representing Saurashtra against Delhi, Ravindra Jadeja delivered a masterclass in bowling. The left-arm spinner claimed a staggering 12 wickets across two innings, including figures of 7/42 in the second innings. 

Jadeja’s relentless accuracy and guile dismantled Delhi’s batting, as Saurashtra triumphed inside two days. He also scored a total of 38 runs from 36 balls with the bat at a strike rate of 105.56.

Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal's Disappointing Outing for Mumbai

Mumbai faced a tough challenge against Jammu and Kashmir, and the experienced opening duo of Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal showed glimpses of promise but ultimately faltered. Rohit managed a cautious 27 in the second innings, while Jaiswal contributed 24. 

The pair added a 54-run opening stand, but their dismissals triggered a collapse, leaving Mumbai precariously placed at 101/7 before a lower-order rescue act saved the day.

Shreyas Iyer's Struggles Continue

Shreyas Iyer’s lean patch persisted as he failed to capitalize on Mumbai’s second innings. Coming in at a crucial juncture, Iyer was unable to steady the innings and departed cheaply. He managed 11 runs in his first innings and also departed for 17 runs in the second innings, with his lack of form in domestic cricket raising concerns as India eyes middle-order stability for the Champions Trophy.

India Needs To Worry Ahead Of Champions Trophy?

While Ravindra Jadeja's stellar performance was the highlight of this Ranji Trophy round, the subdued contributions from Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Shreyas Iyer underscore the need for these key players to find their rhythm. With the Champions Trophy nearing, consistency will be the key for these stars as they seek to regain form and confidence.
