Ravindra Jadeja picked up his second five-wicket haul of the match against Delhi through the course of his scintillating seven-fer. Playing for Saurashtra in their Elite Group D Ranji Trophy 2024-25 fixture at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot, the legendary Indian all-rounder snared sensational figures of 7-38 in the second innings to complete 12 matches in the match.

Jadeja even bewildered fellow national teammate and senior Delhi cricketer Rishabh Pant in each innings to spoil the latter’s Ranji Trophy return.

Jadeja headlines Ranji Trophy return with 12 wickets

Ravindra Jadeja, who picked up figures of 5-66 in the first innings of the match to fold up Delhi for just 188 on Day 1, collected another seven Delhi wickets in the second innings to snare a sensational match haul of 12-104 in 29.5 overs.

On Day 2 of the four-day fixture in Rajkot, Jadeja dismissed both Delhi openers, before snapping opposition captain Ayush Badoni and national teammate Rishabh Pant. Overall, the legendary Indian cricketer conceded just 38 runs in 12.2 overs to pick up his seven wickets, thus marking the 36th five-wicket haul of his first-class career.

Rishabh Pant, on the other hand, managed to list scores of just 1 and 17 across both innings of his respective Ranji Trophy return for Delhi in Rajkot.

Courtesy of Ravindra Jadeja’s remarkable twin spells, Saurashtra won the match by 10 wickets on Day 2. Tasked to chase down just 12 runs in the decisive innings, openers Harvick Desai and Arpit Vasavada consumed 3.1 overs to shrug off the required target.

Nonetheless, both Jadeja and Pant will soon be gracing the national jersey again for the upcoming 2025 ICC Champions Trophy in the UAE. The two cricketers were also teammates during India’s dismal five-match Test tour of Australia earlier this month, where Rohit Sharma’s travelling drawcards conceded the ‘Border-Gavaskar’ trophy title for the first time in over a decade.
