Pakistan Super League's (PSL) ninth season is set to take place in early 2024, and ahead of the tournament, the trade window is generating intense excitement and anticipation among the fans.

In a shocking development, Pakistani speedster Naseem Shah reportedly got traded to Islamabad United from Quetta Gladiators. Quetta's drop in competitiveness earlier prompted Shaheen Shah Afridi to opt-out, and now Naseen is headed towards the same path.

However, United's late entry shook the fans as Multan Sultans had earlier emerged as frontrunners. The local media almost confirmed the Quetta-Multan exchange for Naseem Shah.

But Islamabad United, after parting with Hassan Ali, jumped into the fiery and intense bidding war and surprisingly emerged victorious. While we await an official confirmation, United's official Twitter handle dropped subtle hints about the much-anticipated move.

The move marks a significant shift in the PSL landscape as Islamabad United looks to benefit from the young fast bowler's raw talent and potential match-winning capabilities.

Having said that, Islamabad has to be wary about the repercussions of the dream trade deal. Naseem Shah is in the midst of a grueling rehab process after injuring his shoulder during the Asia Cup earlier this year.

The pacer subsequently underwent surgery, which ruled him out for the latter half of the Asia Cup and the following ODI World Cup. Not only that, the pacer is set to miss the upcoming Pakistan tour of Australia and New Zealand.

While Naseem expects to return for the PSL tournament, his readiness is subject to fitness. Additionally, the speedster remains a key figure in Pakistan's plans, and thus, the board won't compromise on his fitness. He is under national contract, and PCB will remain the ultimate authority to call the shots.

Ultimately, the PSL, known for its competitive and entertaining nature, is set to witness a fresh chapter in Naseem Shah's young yet promising career as he takes on new challenges with Islamabad United.
