Ishan Kishan's Ranji Trophy Absence Continues After Getting Dropped For England Tests

Ishan Kishan appears increasingly unlikely to make a comeback to on-field action via the forthcoming five-Test series against England as the Indian wicketkeeper-batter once again gave Jharkhand's Ranji Trophy 2024 fixture a miss.

Expected to push himself back into contention via an impressive performance at the first-class level, Kishan sidelined himself from Jharkhand's third-round clash with Services, which started on Friday (January 19).

The earnest cricketer, who has been in the news for a controversial break from the game, had earlier skipped matches against Saurashtra and Maharashtra even as KL Rahul, KS Bharat and uncapped Dhruv Jurel pipped him to bag the wicketkeeping slots for the first two Tests versus England.

Ishan Kishan's Playing Absence Continues

Kishan's absence from international and domestic scene has continued to raise speculations of a rift with the Indian team management led by coach Rahul Dravid and skipper Rohit Sharma after reports had emerged that the cricketer sought a break due to mental health reasons.

The Indian Express had alleged that Kishan is not being considered for selection due to "indiscipline" after the youngster was observed partying in Dubai and attending the famous 'Kaun Banega Crorepati?' with Amitabh Bachchan during his break.

The allegation was denied by coach Dravid in his press conference during the just-concluded T20I series versus Afghanistan while Kishan was seen returning to practice duties and posted a clip doing Yoga on social media

When the BCCI announced Kishan's departure from the Test squad ahead of the series in South Africa last month, the board said the 25-year-old has left the squad due to "personal reasons".

Reports had claimed that Kishan had developed mental fatigue being a constant traveller with the Indian team while not finding enough game time. The cricketer is understood to have wanted a break as early as the T20Is versus Australia at home in late November.
