The player draft for the 2025 edition of men’s The Hundred turned out to be an extravagant affair in England on Wednesday, March 12. Young Afghanistan spinner Noor Ahmad and New Zealand all-rounder and newly appointed T20I captain Michael Bracewell secured top deals at the event, signing with Manchester Originals and Southern Brave, respectively.
Australian batting dynamite David Warner and New Zealand all-rounder Rachin Ravindra were among the other major signings, while legendary England fast bowler James Anderson went undrafted.
With several overseas stars, most notably from New Zealand, creating much of the buzz at The Hundred Men’s player draft, we take a look at whether any Pakistani players managed to rake in deals amid the hoopla.
Which Pakistan players made a cut into The Hundred 2025?
Over 350 overseas cricketers registered for the player draft of the Men’s The Hundred 2025 season. However, only 24 overseas players were selected across the eight competing teams, with each team signing three foreign cricketers either through direct contracts or the draft.
New Zealand cricketers emerged as the biggest beneficiaries of the selection process, with as many as nine ‘Black Caps’ securing spots in at least one of the Men’s Hundred franchises. Their Antipodean neighbors, Australia, followed closely behind with eight players making the cut.
From Pakistan, around 44 players registered for the men’s draft, including national T20 superstars like Shadab Khan, Naseem Shah, Mohammad Amir, Saim Ayub, Imad Wasim, and Azam Khan, among others.
Unfortunately for fans of the cricket-crazy nation, not a single Pakistani cricketer managed to secure a contract in The Hundred 2025.
What’s next for Pakistan cricket?
A slew of Pakistan players are gearing up for some local T20 action in the form of the National T20 Cup, one of the oldest and most prestigious T20 competitions in the country. Moreover, a separate batch of Pakistan cricketers is currently in New Zealand to play a series of five T20Is and three ODI matches between March 16 and April 5.
