Chennai Super Kings skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad may be leading the team but when it comes to MS Dhoni, he’s just like every other die-hard fan. A latest video making rounds on social media proves that even captains can have their fan moments.

Gaikwad Turns Photographer For Dhoni

In the viral clip, Dhoni is seen busy with a shoot alongside his CSK teammates while Ruturaj Gaikwad, standing on the sidelines, turns into a full-time photographer for the former skipper. With a camera in hand, Gaikwad carefully clicks some stunning shots of MSD, proving once again that the Dhoni fever runs deep in CSK’s camp.

The official CSK Twitter handle posted the video with a cheeky caption, "CAPtured our hearts!": a smart play on words, highlighting both the ‘captain’ and the ‘former captain.’ Fans lost their minds and flooded the comments with love for Dhoni and Gaikwad’s adorable admiration.

Gaikwad Recalls How Dhoni Handed Him The Captaincy

While the bond between the two is evident off the field, Gaikwad recently opened up about how Dhoni’s trust helped him transition into captaincy last year.

"Just a week before the tournament last year, Dhoni came up to me and said, ‘I’m not leading this year—you are,’" Gaikwad shared in an interview with JioHotstar.

Caught off guard, Gaikwad admitted he was stunned by the sudden responsibility. "From the first game? Are you sure?" he recalled asking Dhoni. With just a few days to prepare, the young skipper found himself in overwhelming waters but Dhoni’s support made all the difference.

"He assured me, ‘This is your team. You make your own decisions. I won’t interfere—except when field placements are a 50-50 call. Even then, it’s not compulsory to follow my advice.’ That trust meant a lot to me," Gaikwad revealed.

The Dhoni Legacy Continues At CSK

Dhoni has been the heartbeat of CSK since the very beginning. As IPL 2025 approaches, Dhoni is gearing up for his 18th season in the tournament. Over the years, his role has evolved from a powerhouse in the middle order to a cool and calm finisher. With 264 IPL matches, 5234 runs and 24 half-centuries to his name, Dhoni’s numbers continue to stack up.

These days, he walks in only when it’s crunch time to ensure maximum damage in the final overs. And let’s be honest: whether he bats for five balls or fifty, watching Dhoni at the crease is still a sight to behold.
