Rohit Sharma To Play Till 2027 World Cup: Report

Indian captain Rohit Sharma will likely continue to play ODI cricket until the 2027 World Cup in South Africa. After leading Team India to an emphatic victory at the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy in UAE a couple of days ago, the legendary Indian opener rejected all rumours surrounding his potential retirement from 50-overs format.

While Sharma refused the exact extension of his illustrious ODI career, a recent report by Cricbuzz indicate that the Indian skipper is eyeing to play at least until the next big-ticket ICC ODI event in 2027.

Mahmudullah Retires From International Cricket

Legendary Bangladesh all-rounder Mahmudullah has announced his retirement from international cricket. While the 39-year-old had already retired from Tests and T20Is, the seasoned Bangladeshi cricketer confirmed his exit from ODIs mere days after the conclusion of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.

Taking to his Facebook account, the 239-ODI veteran thanked his teammates, coaches and fans for their continual support throughout his international journey for Bangladesh.

The right-handed batter will go down as one of the highest run-makers for Bangladesh in ODIs with 5,689 runs. He also picked up 82 wickets in the format at an average of 46.45.

Ian Butler Joins Islamabad United As Bowling Coach For PSL 2025

Former New Zealand fast bowler Ian Butler has joined the Islamabad United franchise as its bowling coach for the upcoming PSL 2025 season. The 43-year-old replaced ex-Pakistani all-rounder Azhar Mahmood in the same role. Butler will be joining head coach Mike Hesson, batting coach Ashley Wright, performance coach Hanif Malik and analyst Ben Jones in the Islamabad United coaching staff.

Under the leadership of Pakistani all-rounder Shadab Khan, Islamabad United will face Lahore Qalandars in the opening match of the PSL 2025 season on April 11.

Babar Azam, Naseem Shah Pull Out Of National T20 Cup: Report

Pakistan cricketers Babar Azam and Naseem Shah have reportedly pulled out of the upcoming Pakistan National T20 Cup 2025 season. Notably, the two cricketers were also dropped by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for the T20I series in New Zealand.

As per reports, Babar and Naseem both pulled out of the National T20 Cup owing to the busy schedule that lies ahead. While they recently participated in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy at home, the two cricketers are scheduled to tour New Zealand for a three-match ODI series. The series will be succeeded by a gruelling PSL 2025 season next month.

Ireland Cancel Multi-Format Series With Afghanistan

Cricket Ireland has postponed its plans of hosting Afghanistan for a multi-format series citing budgetary issues. As per the ICC’s FTP, the Afghanistan cricket team was scheduled to tour Ireland to play a series of one Test, three ODIs and three T20I matches.

While several fans alleged that the series was either postponed or shelved owing to political reasons, Cricket Ireland CEO Warren Deutrom confirmed that the reason was purely economic.

With Ireland’s latest withdrawal, the Afghanistan team is left with no international fixture for the time being.
