Amidst all the speculations, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), the two-time IPL champions, have decided to retain their evergreen duo Andre Russell and Sunil Narine ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) auctions 2024. The West Indies superstars, who have been with the Purple and Gold franchise for more than a decade, will continue to hone the same jersey in the coming edition, as reported by Cricbuzz.

Russell and Narine have seen ups and downs for KKR over the years. The duo have been the team’s nucleus for quite some time, and there were many rumours surrounding that they might leave under the newly-appointed mentor Gautam Gambhir, who led them to win both titles, in 2012 and 2014. However, both are ready to stay for at least one more year, so things aren't going to be true.

However, KKR are reportedly willing to let go of Shardul Thakur and Lockie Ferguson, for whom they spent over INR 20 crores via trade last year. Neither Shardul nor Ferguson lived up to their lofty expectations in IPL 2023, and thus, they had to take bold calls to release both of them.

The retention process will go live on JioCinema at 4 PM IST on Sunday, with all teams set to announce their final squad before heading to the auctions, which will take place in Dubai on December 19.
