The Chennai Super Kings (CSK), after retaining a majority of their IPL 2023-winning stars, further enhanced their squad at the IPL 2024 auction on December 19 in Dubai. The CSK team management roped in a couple of in-form New Zealand cricketers on the basis of their splendid run at the 2023 World Cup, and also recalled all-rounder Shardul Thakur for his second stint with the franchise after his four-season association from 2018 till 2021.

Defending champions CSK retained 19 of their IPL 2023 winning players on November 26, i.e., on IPL 2024 retention day. Some of their retentions included franchise veterans Ravindra Jadeja, Deepak Chahar, Moeen Ali, Ajinkya Rahane as well as MS Dhoni, thus reaffirming the presence of their legendary skipper for the much-awaited tournament.
The CSK team management also retained rising Sri Lankan enigma machine Maheesh Theekshana and New Zealand all-rounder Mitchell Santner alongside a slew of Indian youngsters. Here is a list of all 19 players retained by the Chennai Super Kings for IPL 2024:

On the day of IPL 2024 auction, CSK made new additions by acquiring in-form New Zealand cricketers Rachin Ravindra and Daryl Mitchell, as well as Bangladeshi speedster Mustafizur Rahman among their overseas signings.
