Young India cricketer Abhigyan Kundu delivered a stunning performance against Malaysia Under-19, creating history with his outstanding batting display at The Sevens Stadium on Tuesday, December 16.
Abhigyan Kundu came in to bat at number five after Vaibhav Suryavanshi was dismissed for 28 runs off 17 balls. At that point, India needed someone to take control of the innings and Kundu did exactly that. He played with great confidence and attacked the Malaysian bowlers from the start, hitting boundaries all around the ground.

Notably, Kundu reached his century in just 80 balls, showing excellent timing and fearless shot-making. He continued his aggressive approach and kept scoring runs at a fast pace. By the 49th over, he had reached an incredible 200 runs off just 121 balls.
This became the highest individual score by an Indian player in the history of the Under-19 Asia Cup.
Not stopping there, Kundu finished his innings unbeaten on 209 runs off 125 balls. With this knock, he surpassed the previous highest scores in the tournament. Sameer Minhas had earlier scored 177 not out, while Vaibhav Suryavanshi had made 171 runs against the UAE.
It is worth mentioning that Kundu’s performance clearly stood above the rest and placed him at the top of the record books.
Earlier in the match, Malaysia won the toss and chose to bowl first. India’s openers, Ayush Mhatre and Vaibhav Suryavanshi, gave the team a positive start. However, Mhatre was dismissed early for 14 runs off 7 balls.
Meanwhile, Suryavanshi continued his good form and scored a solid half-century before getting out. Also to note, Vedant Trivedi also played a valuable knock of 90 runs.
For Malaysia, Muhammad Akram Malek was the standout bowler, taking five wickets. Despite his efforts, India posted a massive total of 408 for 7 in 50 overs.
