The IPL 2026 mini auction was held in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, December 16. All IPL teams took part in the event to strengthen their squads for the upcoming season. Notably, the Gujarat Titans (GT), led by Shubman Gill, entered the auction with a smaller budget compared to most other teams. 

They had ₹12.90 crore left to spend and five vacant slots in their squad. Out of these five, four slots were for overseas players, which made their auction strategy very important.

This year, the auction list was shortened significantly. Out of 1,390 registered players, only 359 players were selected for the final auction pool. Teams are being very careful while choosing players, as everyone wants a well-balanced squad.

Gujarat Titans have already retained 19 players from their IPL 2025 team. This includes seven overseas players. The team has kept their captain Shubman Gill, along with key foreign players like Jos Buttler and Kagiso Rabada. Apart from trading Sherfane Rutherford, GT have mostly stuck with their core group.

With only five players left to buy and a budget of ₹12.90 crore, Gujarat Titans entered the mini auction with a clear plan to fill important gaps, especially in their overseas lineup.
