Abhigyan Kundu breaks Rayudu's 23-year-old record, scores highest score for India in Youth ODIs

Only a few days after Vaibhav Suryavanshi's stunning 171 against the UAE in the ongoing U19 Asia Cup 2025, his teammate Abhigyan Kundu took no time to write his name in the history books. Not only that, Kundu, with his innings of 209 off 125, broke Ambati Rayudu's (177) record for most runs in an innings in YODIs for India. 

5. Mayank Agarwal - 160 vs Australia u19

Fifth on the list, Mayank Agarwal's 160 off 142 on 9 April 2009, helped India under-19 completely outplay the Australian youth in the 2nd one-dayer at the Bellerive Oval. Notably, Agarwal slammed as many as five sixes and 18 fours in his 142-ball knock before he was bowled by Jackson Coleman.

4. Raj Bawa - 162* vs Uganda u19

On January 24, 2022, in India's U19 World Cup campaign, Raj Bawa rattled Uganda with an unbeaten 162* the highest total in this edition. Bawa started his innings by putting away a low full toss through midwicket, and after a short period of quiet batting till the 21st over, the batter, along with his partner, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, broke free. 

3. Vaibhav Suryavanshi - 171 vs UAE u19

On December 12, 2026, India's future star Vaibhav Suryavanshi created history by scoring a century off just 56 balls. Vaibhav's innings stunned the UAE bowlers with his 171-run innings in the ACC Men's Under-19 Asia Cup. Vaibhav also became the batsman who hit the most sixes in an innings in the Under-19 Asia Cup. In this century of his innings, Vaibhav hit 14 sixes.  

2. Ambati Rayudu - 177* vs England u19

Second on the list, Ambati Rayudu scored 177 not out from 114 balls for the India U19 side against England in Taunton on August 30, 2002. Rayudu steered India Under-19s to a thrilling victory. Propelled by his fine innings, India Under-19 registered a narrow one-wicket victory over England Under-19 at Taunton last night to clinch the three-match series 3-0.

1. Abhigyan Abhishek Kundu - 209 vs Malaysia u19 

Abhigyan Kundu became the first Indian batter to score a double hundred in Youth ODIs during the Under-19 Asia Cup 2025 match against Malaysia in Dubai.

The 17-year-old southpaw eclipsed Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s knock to become the highest score by an Indian in Youth ODIs. Kundu’s score is also the second-highest in U-19 cricket behind Jorich Van Schalkwyk’s 215 for South Africa, and is the highest individual score in U-19 Asia Cups.
