The much-anticipated Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 auction took place on Tuesday in Abu Dhabi, and Rajasthan Royals made headlines with some major moves to rebuild their squad ahead of the 19th season. 

After finishing ninth in the IPL 2025 season, the RR decided to make bold changes to improve their chances in the upcoming season. Before the auction, the Royals were active in the trade market. 

Former captain Sanju Samson was traded to Chennai Super Kings (CSK), and Nitish Rana moved to Delhi Capitals (DC). In return, Rajasthan bolstered their squad by bringing in star all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja, Sam Curran, and Devdutt Ferreira (traded from DC).

Jadeja joined the Royals for Rs 14 crore, while England’s Sam Curran was snapped up at a bargain price of Rs 2.4 crore.

To make room for these new additions, Rajasthan released several players, including Wanindu Hasaranga, Maheesh Theekshana, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Akash Madhwal, Ashok Sharma, Kumar Kartikeya, Kunal Singh Rathore, as well as Nitish Rana (traded to DC) and Sanju Samson (traded to CSK).

It is important to note that the Rajasthan Royals entered the auction with a purse of INR 16.05 crore and aimed to fill nine vacant slots in their squad.

IPL 2026: RR's costliest player in mini auction

In the IPL 2026 auction, Ravi Bishnoi was sold to Rajasthan Royals for Rs. 7.20 crore, and this was the team's highest bid for the season.

Conclusion

RR have included several players in their squad. They picked up Ravi Bishnoi for ₹7.20 crore. Secondly, they included Sushant Mishra for ₹90 lakh. Yash Raj Punja and Vignesh Puthur, both Indian bowlers, were bought for ₹30 lakh each. Ravi Singh joined the team for ₹95 lakh.

Indian batter Aman Rao was signed for ₹30 lakh, while Brijesh Sharma was also bought for ₹30 lakh. From overseas, Adam Milne has been included in the squad for ₹2.40 crore. Lastly, RR signed Indian bowler Kuldeep Sen for ₹75 lakh.
