The T20 fever is on as we are only two sleeps away from the seventeenth Indian Premier League season.

The tournament kicks off with a riveting battle between two rival franchises, Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

CSK and RCB are known as fierce on-field competitors and have provided the cricket fans with some all-time classics over the years. The last time they met on a cricket field, MS Dhoni's CSK got the better of the Bengaluru-based franchise in a nail-biting face-off.

What happened last time when RCB faced CSK in IPL?

It was the 24th group-stage fixture of the IPL 2023 the last time when Chennai Super Kings collided with Royal Challengers Bengaluru. RCB's home venue, the M. Chinnaswamy stadium was chosen as the battle ground for the high-octane clash.

Conway, Dube slam fifties as CSK post 226

After opting to bowl, RCB were off to a clinical start, as Mohammed Siraj dismissed CSK's ace opener Ruturaj Gaikwad cheaply.

However, the in-form Ajinkya Rahane steadied the ship for CSK alongside Devon Conway, who struck a belligerent 45-ball 83, glittered with six boundaries and as many sixes.

Following Rahane's departure, Shivam Dube emerged as CSK's saviour in the middle overs, ensuring a formidable score for his team through a blistering 27-ball 52.

Besides the heroics from Conway, Rahane and Dube, the cameos from Ambati Rayudu, Moeen Ali and Ravindra Jadeja propelled CSK to a mammoth total of 226 for six in 20 overs.

Deshpande, Pathirana stand tall as CSK clinch a nerve-wrecker

In reply, RCB had a disastrous start to their innings, losing Virat Kohli and Mahipal Lomror inside two overs. However, Faf Du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell ensured their remarkable comeback in the game through scintillating knocks.

While Maxwell hammered 76 runs with eight monstrous sixes, Du Plessis struck 62 runs off only 33 balls, courtesy of five boundaries and four maximums.

However, once Maheesh Theekshana got rid of Maxwell, RCB suffered a collapse that also engulfed skipper Du Plessis. Their lower middle order succumbed to the pressure of required run rate, as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

Eventually, the red brigade finished their innings on 218 for eight, incurring an eight-run defeat in the game

Tushar Deshpande was the most successful bowler for CSK with a clinical three-fer, while Matheesha Pathirana chipped in with the crucial breakthroughs of Suyash Prabhudessai and Shahbaz Ahmed.
