The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) tramped all over the visiting Chennai Super Kings (CSK) unit to register their second win this Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) season.

After winning the toss and opting to field first, SRH bowlers combined forces to restrict CSK to 165-5 despite Shivam Dube’s swift 45. Fast bowlers Bhuvneshwar Kumar, T Natarajan, captain Pat Cummins, Jaydev Unadkat and spinner Shahbaz Ahmed all chipped in with a wicket each, and ensured CSK scored just 38 runs off their final five overs.

Later in the run-chase, SRH mowed down their task with nearly two overs to spare off the back of Abhishek Sharma’s whirlwind innings and breezy knocks from Travis Head and Aiden Markram.

Here’s the timeline of how SRH vs CSK panned out in Hyderabad-

SRH vs CSK Highlights: Shivam Dube Pounds Six-Laden 45 For CSK

Shivam Dube bashed 45 swift runs from just 24 deliveries and blazed CSK past the 100-run mark. The star all-rounder shared a steady 65-run third-wicket partnership with Ajinkya Rahane. Batting at number four and arriving to the crease at 54-2, Dube also launched SRH seamer T Natarajan for successive sixes to provide CSK some much-needed impetus in the middle overs.

SRH vs CSK Highlights: Pat Cummins Refuses Controversial Appeal vs Ravindra Jadeja

In the 19th over of the CSK innings, seasoned SRH fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar hurled down a pinpoint yorker onto the stumps to Ravindra Jadeja. The left-handed batter dug the ball back at the bowler, who fired a throw towards the stumps.

The ball ended up hitting Jadeja instead, who was way outside his crease at the point of impact. Much to everyone’s surprise, SRH captain Pat Cummins as well as Bhuvneshwar Kumar refused to appeal for ‘obstructing the field’, thus displaying an impeccable gesture of sportsmanship and garnering a couple of points on the IPL 2024 ‘Fair Play’ charts.

SRH vs CSK Highlights: Abhishek Sharma Sets Up Chase With 12-ball 37

SRH opener Abhishek Sharma took early charge, muscling 37 runs from just 12 deliveries inside the first three overs of the innings. The youngster took a special liking to Mukesh Choudhary, flogging CSK’s new-ball fast bowler with a 27-run opening over.

SRH vs CSK Highlights: Head And Markram’s Smooth Sailing Sustain SRH Dominance

Emboldened by Abhishek Sharma’s thunderclap at the top, fellow opener Travis Head and number three Aiden Markram further clattered CSK bowlers by steering SRH past the 100-run mark. The two overseas stars shared 60 runs together off the subsequent seven overs, with Head shaping a 24-ball 31 while Markram top-scoring in the innings with a 36-ball half-century.

SRH vs CSK Highlights: Klaasen, Reddy Upstage Moeen Ali To Dent CSK’s Late Hope

After SRH reached 106 inside the halfway stage of the innings, star all-rounder Moeen Ali signaled CSK’s brief fightback with two quick wickets, including the prized-scalp of half-centurion Aiden Markram.

As it turned out, Moeen Ali’s double-wicket burst was soon pacified by Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy. The two SRH batters comfortably scored the remaining 25 runs and ensured the ‘Orange Army’ took home the game with nearly two overs to spare.
